Senior Integration Engineer

Job Location: Milpitas, CA

Founded in 2001, Kineto Wireless is the key innovator and leading supplier of UMA (Unlicensed Mobile Access) technology, the 3GPP standard for Cellular/Wi-Fi convergence.  Kineto is a privately held, venture-backed company whose UMA-compliant products are enabling mobile operators around the globe to deliver high-performance, low-cost voice, data and IMS services over home, offices and public wireless LANs (WLAN).

Job Description:

As a Senior Integration Engineer within the Kineto CBU engineering team, you will be responsible for a Partner product solution where you will provide technical services to external CBU partners.  Take overall project responsibilities within Kineto and ensure that all tech. deliveries and issues are resolved.  Must have a good understanding of RTOS coding methodology, understand the differences between various types of embedded RTOSs, and have had exp. in porting application clients between various OSs.  Verbal and written skills must be adequate to participate and eventually run technical workshops/presentations as well as interface customers during various phases of the project.  Responsible for proposing, testing, and releasing changes to Kineto’s client code base.  GSM/GPRS stack knowledge is a plus.

Duties of the Position:

  • Provide project and technical services to Kineto’s stack and/or handset partners. 
  • Run technical workshops for partners, explaining how Kineto’s client integration methodology.  UMA technology background, Kineto’s client, and test verification plans.
  • Good coding skills.  Should be able to understand code and determine what expected results should be through code analysis.
  • Fast learner of complex system/software.  Understanding of how to interpret logs and do root cause analysis. 
  • Port all Kineto client modules to various embedded OSs.
  • Use of JTAG (ie. Lauterbach) to debug low level faults or system bootup issues.
  • Provide technical responses and engineering code releases to customers. 
  • Modify and maintain Kineto’s Porting Guide and Test specifications document.
  • Work with Program Manager to track all open issues and execute to schedule.
  • Participate initially, but eventually run technical workshops for partners, explaining Kineto’s client integration methodology, UMA technology background, and test verification plans. Participate in code reviews.
  • Possibility of travel outside US (mostly Asia and Europe).  Approximately 2 weeks per year.

Skill Requirements:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or related field.
  • 3+ years of development engineering experience in embedded software with at least two years of experience working with residential wireless CPE devices.
  • Must have strong communication skills and ability to write clear specifications and procedures are required.
  • Must have strong C programming skills including familiarity with a wide variety of software development tools and practical development methodologies especially for RTOS and
    multi-threading applications.
  • Must have detailed understanding of embedded system design and testing.
  • Should have good understanding of TCP/UDP/IP protocols.
  • Nice to have knowledge in 802.11 air protocols.
  • Nice to have knowledge in VoIP protocols RTP/RTCP and VoIP.
  • Nice to have knowledge in GSM/GPRS inter-layer communication primitives.
