SHANGHAI SIMCOM AND KINETO WIRELESS PARTNER TO DELIVER UMA-ENABLED MOBILE HANDSET SOLUTIONS

Shanghai and Milpitas, Calif.
June 26, 2006

Shanghai Simcom, a subsidiary company of SIM technology Group, a leader in mobile handset solution design and wireless communications module development in China, and Kineto Wireless, Inc., the key innovator and leading supplier of Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) technology, announced today the companies are collaborating on the development of UMA-enabled mobile handsets. Simcom will integrate Kineto Wireless’ UMA client software into dual-mode (GSM/EDGE and Wi-Fi) handsets.

In addition, Kineto Wireless will provide Simcom with development, testing, and integration tools as part of Kineto’s Device Developer Program. The resulting mobile devices will conform to the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) global UMA standard and provide for seamless mobility between Wi-Fi and GSM networks.

Through this collaboration, the companies will deliver high performance, low cost UMA-enabled devices to mobile and integrated fixed/mobile operators worldwide. Simcom’s platform supports powerful data processing technology and advanced radio access technologies such as EDGE, TDS-CDMA, and WCDMA which, combined with Wi-Fi and UMA, deliver a very attractive product portfolio for service providers globally.

“As the requirements from mobile operators to support multiple solutions are expanding, our relationship with Kineto, the leader in UMA technology, couldn’t come at a more beneficial time,” said Mr. Raymond Tsang, CEO of SIM Tech. “Simcom will benefit from Kineto’s outstanding capability and rich experience in supporting the integration and testing of UMA technology in mobile devices.”

“Working with Simcom will help meet the increasing market demand for dual-mode mobile/Wi-Fi devices,” said Mark Powell, co-founder and vice president of Kineto’s client business unit. “Kineto’s UMA technology, together with Simcom’s excellent mobile handset design capabilities, will result in effective and desirable UMA products coming to market.”

(Editor’s Note: In June, Kineto will lead a pre-conference session at the Informa Telecoms & Media UMA Conference, the industry’s first tradeshow developed to address the growing interest and demand for UMA technology from global operators and handset manufacturers worldwide. The conference takes place June 26 – 29 in Barcelona, Spain. For more information, please visit http://www.informatm.com/uma.)

About UMA Technology
Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) technology is the 3GPP global standard for mobile/Wi-Fi convergence. UMA Technology enables access to mobile voice, data and IMS services over IP broadband access and unlicensed spectrum technologies, such as Wi-Fi. By deploying UMA technology, service providers can enable subscribers to roam and handover between cellular networks and public and private WLANs using dual-mode mobile handsets. With UMA, subscribers receive a consistent user experience for their mobile voice, data and IMS services as they transition between networks. Leading operators around the world have embraced UMA technology as part of a fixed-mobile convergence strategy, including Telecom Italia, France Telecom/Orange, and Telia Sonera.
